I have just discovered a page on the wiki which mentions a TMBG collection called "Stumpbox" that supposedly contained covers the band did in the Stump The Band portion of their shows they used to have (so I've read).
While perusing the list of songs, I noticed that John Linnell once sang You Are My Sunshine!
I've adored this song since I was very young. When I was little, if I was feeling lonely, I would pedal my tricycle in circles around our carport over and over and repeatedly sing this song to myself. (I was a little strange. But for some reason it helped.)
Anyway, it's one of those songs I just always heard but never had a proper version to listen to on record/tape/CD/etc. And lately I've been meaning to look up several versions and see which one I liked so I could buy one. Now that I know there's a version sung by John Linnell out there somewhere, I would LOVE to be able to obtain that version! But I don't know how to go about doing so. Does anyone here know where I can find it or if it's even possible to buy it at all?

Stumpbox isn't strictly Stump the Band recordings. In this case, Linnell plugged Sunshine into the end section of Spy while Flansburgh conducted the standard improvised cacophony of musical noise. This happened at a show in Bielefeld, Germany on 4/22/92. I know that it's not really what you were thinking of, but please enjoy anyway. bit.ly/9kOP7P

Haha, how odd! And strangely creepy in a lovely sort of way. I still like it. Thanks!
