Oh man, that's hard. That's really hard.
I am torn between so many songs. I totally second your selection of The Guitar, though I would add that it is even better when played live with the horns. They ramp it up to another level.
I guess I would have to pick Damn Good Times, which actually surprises me a little. The song just makes me happy and it always makes me want to dance and it's got the killer guitar solo and you get to yell "Damn" really loudly.
Some other live favorites of mine: Fingertips, Withered Hope, Birdhouse, Doctor Worm, Subliminal, Letterbox, Hey Mr. DJ, See the Constellation, With the Dark.
Also Alphabet of Nations is so much better live than it is on the recording as to almost be a different song.

They Might Be Giants. If its performed at the right time, it has a high amount of energy that you can't describe!

i think twisting, they've played twisting at both adult shows i've attended and both times i found myself doing this little shimmy dance with my surrounding peeps
and when they opened with hey mister dj, no horns, second night of tour, my first show: IT WAS GREAT

Hm, I think I like the live version of I Palindrome I but I dunno if that counts, seeing as I only heard it on The Spine Surfs Alone (or whatever it's called). I've never been to a live show but I've seen videos of shows and I also like the live versions of Birdhouse and the live version of Don't Let's Start on the trailer for Gigantic.

(Sorry for the double-post) No One Knows My Plan. Have you seen the video where Linnell does that little dance thing?

(Sorry for the double-post) No One Knows My Plan. Have you seen the video where Linnell does that little dance thing? Ah yes! No One Knows My Plan is awesome live, too. Especially when paired with Everybody Conga. I haven't seen that video but I haven't seen many of that song played live, which probably explains it.

Wait, which video are you talking about, Ana? I thought it was the one from a show we were at but then I realized the one I was thinking of was a different song?

Uh, here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=k90Xc_KhdBAThat's the video I was referring to. Sorry if I confused anyone! If you skip to around 1:54 he does a cute little dance. (And yes, Everybody Conga is pretty cool. ;D)

Ok, yeah. I went and looked after I posted last night and I thought that might be the one to which you were referring. There are obviously too many videos out there of Linnell doing a funny dance :-)

Too difficult to choose just one! But "Alphabet of Nations" live is EPIC to the point that I can't even listen to the recorded version because I just get bored with it. I LOVE IT!
I also love seeing Withered Hope (obvs), Subliminal, PYHIT Puppet Head, Dead, and OMG, Thunderbird was absolutely AMAZING.
I feel like I'm leaving out a loooooootttt of important stuff.
