I was at that show with a couple of my friends and it was so great to see the Johns loosened up. The pirate version of "Why Does The Sun Shine" was great and the encore of "Where Your Eyes Don't Go" (which I had stuck in my head all day) made it one of my favorite Giants shows.

Yes! It was awesome to see them so giddy on stage. Definitely one of the best shows I've been to, if not the best.

I'll be the picky one and say I wasn't 100% satisfied with the setlist (mostly because I have been to so many shows lately where they played those exact songs) but they more than made up for it with the banter. They were in top form on the goofiness. And I am sure the setlist was probably perfect for the other 99.9999% of the people who were there so I can't really complain.
I want a guitar now that says "This one's mine. Fuck you."
(Apologies for the language - Flans said it, not me)

I want a guitar now that says "This one's mine. Fuck you." I'm totally inscribing this on my bass when I get a chance. I understand not being completely satisfied with the setlist, but I'm still at the point in my show-attending career where any setlist is a good setlist. I will agree that I'm a little sick of Dead, though.

LOL, Ana. Yes, we liked the show. It was a blast.
And fouroftwo, I resisted being sick of Dead for so long. Gary got there before I did. But I am so done with it now. On the plus side they have completely revived my interest in Particle Man, so you win some you lose some.

It sounds like it was quite fun. I will go to a show one day, I will!

:::GASP::: I will NEVER EVER be sick of Dead! Maybe because it gets to the core of what the band has helped to rescue me from emotionally, and every time I hear it I have that epiphany all over again so I get a little emotional. That sounds cheesy, but it's how I feel. I also think it's just a beautiful song.

I know. I'm sorry.
And that's not cheesy at all, by the way.
I really am glad you still enjoy it. That to me is what is at the heart of TMBG music. That every fan has that song that just reaches into their soul every time they hear it. And there are so many beautiful songs that it can be different for every person. I still sort of feel that way about Museum of Idiots (which is why I don't understand why I totally spaced out while they played it at the Stone Pony).

For some reason listening to Dead on my headphones does a lot more for me than hearing it live. I do love the way the entire audience sings along with it, though. It's fun to feel so in-tune with a huge group of people like that.
